In each specialty, there was some expectation of how direct an influence a Jedi would have on that improvement of life, and geologists were not expected to have nearly as much influence as a guardsman. However, Tandre's life, and service to the Jedi proved that even one who chose to follow geological studies, one can make a difference. Tandre, perhaps by the will of the Force, encountered a race of people and help them become introduced to a better way of living as well as the galactic collective.
